A great start to 2022 at Open Circle Arts with Storytelling & Stitch workshops facilitated by visual artist Carrie Lynam, beginning on February 16th. We are delighted to be back at Rothe House in Kilkenny City for this suite of creative embroidery workshops. Two groups of women began exploring the themes and the methods found in the Ross Tapestry, which is currently on exhibit at Kilkenny Castle. It is well worth a visit if you haven’t been in to see it already. Admittance is free, but booking Is required – https://kilkennycastle.ie/
Throughout the coming weeks (eight in total) the women will learn to embroider the 8 stitches used in the Ross Tapestry, how to transfer a personal design from paper to fabric and be introduced to the important formal elements of colour mixing, line and pattern in the process of experimenting with these mark making techniques. The workshops will be expertly guided by Carrie, all levels of experience welcomed and we look forward to seeing how the work develops.
If you are Interested in future textiles workshops please let us know and make sure to join our mailing list for Information on all activities at Open Circle.
